Workstation toolbar basics
Audience
Use this page if you are connected to a VDO Workstation session in the browser.
Outcome
You know where to find the main controls during a remote workstation session.
Steps
- Start a session from Computers.
- Use the compact toolbar for quick status and actions.
- Check FPS, RTT, and Rate to understand session health.
- Use the audio button to mute or unmute remote audio.
- Use fullscreen when you need better keyboard capture.
- Use Force Keyframe if the picture needs a fresh frame.
- Choose a quality preset such as LAN, WAN, Review, Color, or Speed.
- Open Session for displays, fullscreen, disconnect, blank host screen, and lock-on-disconnect controls.
- Open Video for codec, chroma, FPS, resolution, bitrate, and keyframe controls.
- Open Input for audio, A/V sync, cursor display, gamepad, and Mac host-key behavior.
- Open Stats for FPS, bitrate, RTT, loss, queue, display, resolution, codec, and transport details.
Expected result
The toolbar updates the running session without leaving the remote desktop. Stats show whether the session is healthy or needs lower quality, lower bitrate, or a different preset.
Common failures
Fullscreen does not capture every shortcut. Browser keyboard lock support varies.
4:4:4 is unavailable. The host and browser must both support the selected path.
Resolution changes cause a warning. If the host desktop shell becomes unresponsive, VDO shows a dismissible warning banner.
RTT or loss is high. Try WAN or Review, lower bitrate, or reduce resolution.
