Workstation toolbar basics

Use the controls in your browser viewer or installed VDO Workstation build to check the connection and adjust supported picture, sound and input settings. Labels and available options vary by client version and host capability.

Check connection health

Read the available FPS, bitrate, RTT, loss, resolution, codec and transport stats. QUIC direct is used when the peer network permits it; relay is the alternative path. A healthy login or heartbeat does not prove that media ports are reachable.

For a live picture with no input, focus the remote view and check host input readiness. On macOS the host needs Accessibility; Fedora Wayland requires its normal capture/input consent. Do not restart an occupied host to repair a permission issue.

Adjust picture and sound

• Try a lower bitrate, frame rate or resolution if the connection is overloaded.
• Use a quality preset only if it exists in your client build.
• Mute or unmute remote audio with the available sound control. Verify audible output on the real workstation; a readiness flag is not an audio test.
• Use Force Keyframe if available to request a fresh picture. It cannot repair denied capture permissions or a disconnected host.
• Select a display only when the host and client expose that route. Linux multi-monitor behavior requires qualification on the physical setup.
