VDO Remote Agent getting started
Audience
Use this page if you manage machines that should appear in the VDO Computers page.
Outcome
You will understand which Remote Agent path to use and where to get the registration code.
What Remote Agent does
Remote Agent enrolls a machine into your VDO workspace. After enrollment, admins can see the machine in Computers, check status, and use the actions exposed for that machine.
There are two setup paths:
- macOS Remote Agent for Mac Streamer workstations.
- Linux Agent for browser-based remote workstation access.
Create a registration code
- Sign in to VDO as a workspace admin.
- Open Computers.
- Open Settings.
- Generate or copy the team registration code.
This is the code you use when enrolling a machine. Treat it as a workspace credential.
Choose the right setup page
Use Set up the macOS Agent when the host is a Mac workstation that should run the signed VDO Remote Agent app.
Use Set up the Linux Agent when the host is a Linux workstation that should be reachable from the browser-based VDO Workstation viewer.
Expected result
After setup, the machine appears in Computers. The status should move to online after the agent starts and reaches the VDO API.
Common failures
No registration code is available. Ask a workspace admin to generate one in Computers > Settings.
Machine does not appear. Confirm the agent was registered with the current workspace code and that outbound internet access is available.
Wrong machine name. Rename or organize the machine from the Computers page after it has enrolled.
