VDO NDI Output OFX Plugin getting started
Audience
Use this page if you need to send picture from a supported OFX host into an NDI workflow.
Outcome
You will install the VDO NDI Output OFX plugin, create an NDI source from your host app, and feed that source into VDO Streamer.
Current limitation
The plugin is NDI-first today. Direct VDO output from the OFX plugin is not the current production path. To send the result into VDO, output NDI from the plugin and receive that NDI source in VDO Streamer.
Prerequisites
- A supported OFX host, such as DaVinci Resolve, Baselight, Nuke, Nucoda, or Scratch.
- The VDO NDI Output OFX plugin from Downloads.
- VDO Streamer on the machine that will receive the NDI source.
- A VDO room ready for the stream.
Install
- Sign in to VDO.
- Open Downloads.
- Select NDI Plugin.
- Download the build for macOS or Linux.
- Install it into the OFX plugin location used by your host application.
- Restart the host application.
Create the NDI output
- Add the VDO NDI Output effect or output plugin in the host application.
- Set Output Mode to NDI.
- Choose an NDI source name that operators can recognize.
- Confirm frame rate, colour primaries, transfer, and range.
- Start output from the host.
Send the NDI source into VDO
- Open VDO Streamer.
- Choose NDI as the source type.
- Select the source name from the plugin.
- Connect VDO Streamer to the target room.
- Start streaming.
Expected result
The host application publishes an NDI source. VDO Streamer receives that source and sends it into a Colour or Editorial room.
Common failures
The NDI source does not appear. Confirm the host application is outputting, the source name is unique, and both machines are on the same network segment.
Colour does not match expectation. Check primaries, transfer, and range in the plugin before troubleshooting VDO Streamer.
User expects direct VDO output. Use NDI output plus VDO Streamer for now.
