Set up the macOS Agent

Audience

Use this page if you are enrolling a Mac workstation in VDO Computers.

Outcome

The Mac will run VDO Remote Agent and appear in the Computers page for your workspace.

Prerequisites

• A workspace admin account.
• A Mac that should be managed by VDO.
• The current VDO Remote Agent download.
• A registration code from Computers > Settings.

Get the registration code

1. Open VDO.
2. Go to Computers.
3. Open Settings.
4. Generate or copy the registration code.

Keep the code private. It enrolls machines into your workspace.

Install the app

1. Open Downloads.
2. Select Remote Agent.
3. Download the signed macOS build.
4. Move VDO Remote Agent to Applications.
5. Launch the app.
6. Paste the registration code when prompted.

Confirm enrollment

1. Return to Computers.
2. Find the Mac in the machine list.
3. Confirm the status changes to online.
4. Place the machine into the right group if you use groups.

Expected result

The Mac appears in VDO Computers and can be managed according to the actions available for that machine.

Common failures

Registration code is missing. Ask a workspace admin to generate it in Computers settings.

Mac does not appear online. Confirm the app is running and outbound internet access is available.

Wrong workspace. Regenerate or copy the code from the workspace where the machine should belong.
