Player connection troubleshooting

Audience

Use this page if VDO Player cannot join a room, plays no picture or audio, or fails to output through DeckLink or NDI.

Outcome

You will confirm the room credentials, active stream, playback path, and output device settings.

Steps

1. Open the room in VDO.
2. Open Share settings.
3. Copy the current room key.
4. Copy the current stream code for the viewer or player role.
5. Open VDO Player.
6. Enter the room key and stream code.
7. Connect.
8. If connected but no picture appears, confirm VDO Streamer is actively publishing to the same room.
9. If using DeckLink output, select an output device and a display mode that matches the live stream.
10. If using NDI output, use a clear output source name and confirm the receiver can see it.

Expected result

VDO Player connects, receives stream metadata, and plays picture and audio.

Common failures

Enter a room key. The room key field is empty. Copy it from current room share settings.

Enter a stream code. The stream code field is empty. Copy or regenerate the current code.

Connected but no video. Start VDO Streamer and confirm it is publishing to the same room.

DeckLink output says no device selected. Choose a DeckLink output device before enabling output.

DeckLink mode mismatch. Pick an output mode that matches the stream resolution.

NDI output is not visible. Confirm the receiver is on the expected network and refresh its source list.
