VDO quick start

Audience

Use this page if you are new to VDO and need to choose the right first workflow.

Outcome

You will know whether to start with Sessions or Workstation, and which first setup page to open next.

Choose your workflow

VDO has two main workflows.

Workflow	Use it when	First action
Sessions	You need to stream into a review room for clients, producers, editors, or colour review.	Create a room.
Workstation	You need browser-based access to a Mac or Linux machine.	Register a computer.

Start with Sessions

1. Open Rooms.
2. Create a Colour or Editorial room.
3. Open the room share settings.
4. Copy the room key for VDO Streamer.
5. Copy the share link or player code for viewers.
6. Start the stream from VDO Streamer.

Use this path when the review session is centered on a room.

Start with Workstation

1. Open Computers.
2. Generate or copy a registration code.
3. Install the correct agent on the host machine.
4. Wait for the machine to appear online.
5. Click Connect.

Use this path when the work is centered on controlling a remote machine.

Install apps

Open Downloads for VDO Streamer, VDO Player, VDO Remote Agent, and the VDO NDI Output OFX plugin.

Expected result

After this setup, you should have either an active room ready for review or an enrolled computer ready for remote access.
