Invite viewers to a room
Audience
Use this page if you are a producer, operator, or room owner inviting reviewers into a VDO Session.
Outcome
Each viewer gets the right connection detail for their device.
Steps
- Open Rooms.
- Select the room, then open Room Settings or Share settings.
- For browser viewers, copy the share link. If the room has a password, share it through a trusted channel.
- For VDO Player on Mac or iPad, copy the room key and the current player or viewer code for the room.
- For Apple TV, copy the room key and the viewer or player code shown for that room.
- If a code is missing or should be rotated, regenerate it from room settings and send the new value.
- Start the stream from VDO Streamer before asking reviewers to validate picture and sound.
Expected result
Browser viewers can join from the link. Native players can connect with the room key and stream code. Reviewers see the active stream once publishing starts.
Common failures
The viewer has the room key but not the stream code. Native players need both.
The viewer has an old code. Regenerating a code invalidates the previous one.
The password was set but not shared. Browser viewers must enter it at prejoin.
The room has no active stream. Confirm VDO Streamer is publishing to the same room.
The wrong code role was sent. Use the code role shown for the viewer device and room type.
