NDI plugin troubleshooting
Audience
Use this page if the VDO NDI Output OFX plugin does not appear in the host app, does not create an NDI source, or does not look correct in VDO Streamer.
Outcome
You will confirm the plugin is installed, set to NDI output, visible to receivers, and using the intended colour metadata.
Steps
- Download the VDO NDI Output OFX plugin from Downloads.
- Install it into the OFX plugin location used by the host app.
- Restart the host app.
- Add the VDO Output effect to the clip or timeline workflow.
- Set Output Mode to NDI.
- Set a recognizable NDI Source Name.
- Set frame rate to match the timeline.
- Check input primaries, output primaries, transfer, range, and NDI metadata settings.
- Open VDO Streamer, choose NDI, and select the plugin source.
Expected result
The host app passes the clip through while publishing an NDI source. VDO Streamer can receive that NDI source and stream it into an Editorial or Colour room.
Common failures
Plugin does not appear. Confirm it was installed in the host app's OFX plugin location, then restart the host app.
No NDI source appears. Set Output Mode to NDI, start playback or output in the host, and refresh NDI sources in VDO Streamer.
Direct VDO output was selected. Direct VDO output is not the current production path. Use NDI output plus VDO Streamer.
Colour looks wrong. Check primaries, transfer, range, and whether NDI colour metadata is enabled.
Wrong frame rate. Match the plugin frame rate to the timeline to avoid cadence problems.
