Create your first room

Audience

Use this page if you are setting up a VDO Session for the first time.

Outcome

You will create a room, find the share settings, and collect the details needed by Streamer and viewers.

Create the room

1. Sign in to VDO.
2. Open Rooms.
3. Click Create Room.
4. Choose Colour or Editorial.
5. Enter a room name.
6. Choose a relay region if the form offers one.
7. Set a password if the review should be restricted.
8. Click Create Room.

Choose the room type

Use Editorial for browser-friendly screening sessions and collaborative review.

Use Colour for higher bitrate colour review workflows where quality and latency are the priority. Colour is peer-to-peer first for the primary media path when available, so plan it like a site-to-site link between the Streamer location and the Player location.

Open share settings

After the room is created, open Share settings.

You will use these fields:

• Room Key for VDO Streamer and native app connection.
• Share Link for browser viewers.
• Viewer Code or player stream code for native player and Apple TV workflows.
• Password if the room should require a password to join.

Connect VDO Streamer

1. Open VDO Streamer.
2. Select the room from your account or paste the room key.
3. Choose the correct source.
4. Start streaming.

Invite viewers

For browser viewing, send the share link.

For VDO Player or Apple TV, send the room key and the correct stream code.

Expected result

The room shows an active stream, and viewers can join through the intended access path.

Common failures

Viewer opens the link but cannot join. Check whether the room has a password and whether the viewer has the current password.

Streamer cannot connect. Copy the room key again from share settings.

Apple TV asks for two values. Enter both the room key and the viewer code.
