Register a computer
Audience
Use this page if you are a workspace admin registering a Mac or Linux workstation in VDO Computers.
Outcome
The computer appears in Computers with online status after the agent starts and reaches VDO.
Steps
- Sign in to VDO.
- Open Computers.
- Open Settings.
- Generate or copy the registration code.
- Keep the code private. It enrolls machines into your workspace.
- For Linux workstations, open Install, choose the target OS if needed, copy the generated install command, and run it on the host with sudo.
- For Mac Streamer workstations, download the signed Remote Agent build, move the app to Applications, launch it, and paste the registration code when prompted.
- Return to Computers and wait for the machine to appear.
- Rename it or assign it to a group if your team uses groups.
Expected result
The machine appears in the Computers list. Its status changes to online after the agent is running and sending heartbeats.
Common failures
No registration code is visible. Only admins can manage registration codes.
Machine does not appear. Confirm the agent used the current workspace code and that the host has outbound internet access.
Linux install fails. Use the install command shown in VDO and choose a supported distro option.
Mac is installed but not listed. Confirm the menu-bar app is running and was registered with the current workspace code.
