Streamer source troubleshooting
Audience
Use this page if VDO Streamer opens but the source, preview, audio, or room connection is not working.
Outcome
You will identify whether the issue is source discovery, macOS permissions, audio selection, file loading, or room access.
Steps
- Stop streaming before changing source settings.
- Choose the intended source: Blackmagic, NDI, Screen Capture, File, or Test Signal.
- For Screen Capture, approve macOS Screen Recording permission and relaunch VDO Streamer if prompted.
- For Blackmagic, confirm the capture device is connected and visible to the system before refreshing devices.
- For NDI, start the sender first, then refresh NDI sources in VDO Streamer.
- Select an audio source that matches the video source.
- Use embedded audio only with Blackmagic SDI or HDMI capture.
- For NDI audio, choose the appropriate system audio input.
- Connect with a room from your account or paste the current room key.
Expected result
Preview starts, audio meters move when source audio is present, and streaming connects to the selected room.
Common failures
Screen Recording permission denied. Grant Screen Recording access, then relaunch VDO Streamer.
Blackmagic device is missing. Check cabling, Desktop Video installation, and whether the device supports input.
NDI source is missing. Confirm the NDI sender is running, the source name is unique, and both endpoints are on the expected network.
No audio source. Embedded audio is Blackmagic-only. Pick a system audio input for NDI, screen, or external audio routing.
Room key is rejected. Paste the current room key from room share settings. Do not use a computer registration code.
